5 Days Merzouga Desert Tour from Marrakech

Day 1: Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Dadès Valley:

Morning pick-up at your accommodation, departure from Marrakech to Ouarzazate via the Tichka Pass (2,260 m). There will be occasional stops along the way to enjoy the splendid mountain scenery. Lunch in Ouarzazate, then continue to the Dades Gorges, passing through the palm grove of Skoura and the beautiful kasbah of Amredil, Kelaa-M’Gouna… Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 2: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Merzouga 

After breakfast, we will start our day with a visit to the palm grove of Tinghir and the Todgha Gorges, then drive to Erfoud. Lunch on site, then continue to Merzouga and Erg Chebbi. Watch the sunset and enjoy a 2-hour camel ride to reach the camp at the bottom of the desert. Dinner and overnight stay in Berber tents.

Day 3: Exploring the Merzouga Desert

We will spend our third day exploring the culture and landscapes of the Merzouga Desert. We will start the day with a visit to a magnificent panoramic viewpoint to admire the desert landscapes. Next, we will meet with a local nomadic family to have tea and discover their unique way of life in the desert.

Afterwards, we will visit Khamlia, home to the Gnawa community, where you can enjoy vibrant music and dancing. We will then have lunch in Khamlia, sampling delicious Berber pizzas. In the afternoon, the day will end with a return to our hotel to rest and relax.

Day 4: Merzouga – N’kob – Ouarzazate 

Admire the sunrise over the dunes and enjoy another short camel ride before returning to your accommodation in Merzouga. After breakfast and a hot shower at the hotel, you will leave the Merzouga desert for Ouarzazate via the Drâa Valley, passing through Rissani, Alnif, Tazaraine, and N’kob, with lunch en route. Then continue on to Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight stay in a hotel.

Day 5: Ouarzazate – Marrakech

After breakfast, we will take a short tour of Ouarzazate, visiting the Taourirt Kasbah, the film studio, the Tifoultout Kasbah, and the splendid Ait Benhaddou Kasbah, before returning to Marrakech.
