Itinerary
Day 1 Casablanca – Marrakech
Today marks the start of our 6-day private tour of the Casablanca desert. After breakfast, we will depart Casablanca by car for Marrakech. You will enjoy a guided tour of the medina. We will also visit other interesting sites in Marrakech, such as museums, palaces, the Menara Gardens, and the Marjolle Garden. We will also visit a new district of the city called Gueliz. Overnight stay in a riad.
Day 2 Marrakech – Tizi N Tichka Pass – Ouarzazate – Dades Gorges
Today, we will head to the Dades Gorges via the Tizi-n-Tichka Pass. We will visit the Berber village of Telouet to see the abandoned kasbah of the el Glaoui family (the pasha of Marrakech during the French colonial period). We will then continue to the village of Aït Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is a spectacular fortified village. We will continue our journey to Ouarzazate and the Dades Valley via other Berber regions, such as the Skoura oasis and the Valley of Roses. We will have dinner at a local riad/hotel where we will spend the night.
Day 3: Dades Gorges – Todra Gorges – Erfoud – Merzouga
After breakfast, we will visit the Dades Gorges and the Todra Gorges (lunch). We will then continue our journey through numerous Berber villages, such as the towns of Arfoud and Risasani, with optional stops in Arfoud to visit the large fossil factories. Then we will prepare for a camel ride in the Sahara Desert, guided by an experienced camel driver. We will watch the sunset in the Merzouga desert. Once we arrive at the desert camp, we will enjoy a Berber dinner and listen to drum music around the campfire. Overnight in a private tent.
Day 4 Merzouga – Erfoud – Midelt – Fez
At around 5:30 a.m., we will wake up to enjoy the sunrise over the dunes, perhaps the best moment in the Merzouga desert, and then we will return by camel to the hotel where we started, where we will have a typical breakfast, and then we will begin our journey to Fez through the magnificent Ziz Valley, Errachida, and Midelt. We will have lunch along the way and make a short stop to observe the monkeys in the cedar forests of the Middle Atlas, near the town of Azrou, in the “Gourrou Forests.” We will continue on to Fez, where our tour from Marrakech to Fez will end.
Day 5 Guided tour of Fez
Today we will explore Fez, the oldest city in Morocco. We love to stroll through its narrow streets and alleys; we will visit the gate of the Royal Palace, the Jewish quarter, and other places of cultural and historical interest, such as the Al Qaraouine University, the tanneries, and the mausoleum of Mulay Idriss. We will spend the night in a local riad.
Day 6 Fez – Rabat – Casablanca
