Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival at Marrakech
Arrival at Marrakech airport where a driver will be waiting to take you to your riad.
Dinner and overnight stay in a riad in the medina of Marrakech.
Day 2: Marrakech
Set off to explore the old town of Marrakech. This self-guided tour allows you to discover some of the most popular places in the medina, such as the Bahia Palace, the Ben Youssef Madrasa, and the famous souks.
Lunch on your own in Marrakech. Feel free to ask the owner of your riad for recommendations on the best places to eat. They will be able to advise you on quality restaurants at all price points.
Continue your tour of the medina. At the end of the day, take a break on the terrace of a cafĂ© overlooking the famous Jemaa el Fna square and watch one of the city’s legendary places come to life.
Upon your return to your riad, dinner will be served before you retire to your room for the night.
Day 3: Marrakech – Dades Gorges
After enjoying a hearty breakfast, you will set off at 9:30 a.m. towards the south and the Atlas Mountains. The magnificent winding road that connects Marrakech to Ouarzazate takes you over the Tichka Pass at an altitude of 2,260 meters before turning off towards the village of Télouet where you will have lunch.
You will spend the early afternoon visiting the Kasbah of Glaoui before descending along the Ounila River towards the famous Ksar of AĂŻt-Ben-Haddou. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this fortified village is an exceptional example of southern Moroccan architecture.
Once your visit is over, you will continue on to the Dades Gorges, where you will have dinner and spend the night in an inn with a superb view.
Day 4: Dades Gorges – Merzouga
After leaving the Dades Gorges, your journey will take you to the small town of Tinejdad, where you will visit one of the most beautiful museums in Morocco.
Your tour now takes you through increasingly arid landscapes interspersed with a few palm groves reminiscent of the oases in famous tales. You will have lunch along the way and arrive in Merzouga in the afternoon.
Your camel ride awaits to take you to your camp in the middle of the dunes. During this 1.5-hour trek, you will immerse yourself in the desert with your caravan of camels.
Dinner and overnight stay in a camp in the middle of the desert.
Day 5: Merzouga
After watching the sunrise and having tea, you will return to your inn by camel. Once there, you will take a shower and have breakfast after checking into your room.
Lunch will be served at the inn before you set off to visit a village of Gnaoua musicians.
Return in the afternoon to your inn with a swimming pool at the foot of the Merzouga dunes. Dinner and overnight stay on site.
Day 6: Merzouga – Fez
It’s time to leave the desert for Fez. You will have lunch on the way and arrive in the afternoon in this capital of Arab-Muslim civilization, where you can discover the splendor of medieval Morocco.
Dinner and overnight stay in a riad in the heart of the medina of Fez.
Day 7: Fez
This free day in Fez allows you to visit some of the most iconic sites in Morocco’s cultural, spiritual, and gastronomic capital. Discover the medieval urban planning of the Fez el Bali district, the architectural finesse of the Bou Inania Madrasa, the Al-Attarine Madrasa, or one of the oldest universities in the world, Al Quaraouiyine University. You are also free to choose where you would like to have lunch.
Back at the riad in the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner and spend your last night in the heart of the Fez medina.
Day 8: Fez Airport
A driver will pick you up at your riad and take you to the airport half an hour before check-in for your return flight. Option (at an additional cost) to return to Marrakech by car to catch your return flight from the airport in that city.
